HATS off to Cllr Jim Blakely as reported in the Citizen last week This is the way forward'.

The It's Our City' group has a right to say what it fells about the development of Lancaster city centre but they do seem to forget that it is not just their city.

There are a lot of people living here who would welcome the Centros Miller development with open arms. I for one am sick of having to travel to Preston, Bolton or Manchester because of the lack of choice in Lancaster - and I'm sure I'm not the only one who has to travel to shop.

If there was a better shopping centre and better facilities in Lancaster - just what Centros Miller propose - more people would visit the city, more visitors would attract more businesses and in turn would help to regenerate other areas of the city.

This would not just be shops but restaurants, offices and small businesses who would all feed off the big boys within the development.

Schemes like this are being used to regenerate towns and cities all over the world. They must work, otherwise why would they build them?

Bryan Wood, Morecambe.

I absolutely agree. The people who grew up here, have families and children at school need a prosperous, modern city. Lentil shops and aromatherapy workshops are not the way forward.
It is great that so many people come to the Uni and then don't leave the area, but please then don't claim and ruin our city.
